MSSecure .75 Beta
Wanna improve the security of your PC, Home computer or Home LAN?
The
Information Security team needs your help in piloting a vulnerability detection
tool, MSSecure. MSSecure is a tool that
can be downloaded to a desktop, home machine, and/or lab machine to scan and
detect vulnerabilities on these systems.
How
does MSSecure work?
All scans
are performed locally on the machine to prevent exposing sensitive information
across the network. In addition, if
vulnerabilities are found, MSSecure provides information on how to correct
them.
Where
can I run MSSecure?
The Information
Security team encourages you to download and run this application on your home
systems, home LAN or any other machine with Windows NT or Windows 2000
used to connect to the corporate network and/or the Internet. This application
is designed to download quickly, within seconds, even if connected via a slow
analog RAS link.
Note: This application is not
targeted for deployment on application servers.
The scan itself does not effect the server, it simply gives you an
assessment of the known vulnerabilities; however, if you choose to modify some
of the security settings, such as “Restricted Anonymous”, it may impact access
to your application. The
modifications on the client machine should not impact your application.
Where
can I access MSSecure?
MSSecure
can be found at <http://mssecure>,
or by visiting the InfoSec web portal <http://infosecweb>
and clicking on the MSSecure logo.
· The Index page provides information on all the scans
that MSSecure performs.
· Click
the “Scan Now” button on the MSSecure home page to begin scanning your
computer for security vulnerabilities.
· After
the scan the Reports table provides information on how to correct any
vulnerability detected (click on the hyper link for that scan).
Where
to go to submit Feedback?
· Please use the Feedback tab on the MSSecure web site
to provide comments or suggestions to the development team.
· For bugs
reporting or if you encounter any issues downloading the control or
changing your system settings, please contact the Helpdesk via the web
at <http://mseweb/helpdesk/> or
phone at x65000.

you,
