Then, towards the end of year 2001, he became well-known by hacking Osmanlı Bank, the first and the oldest bank of Turkey. Leaving a message to the bank's website, Şahin was on the news at the subheadings of Milliyet. The incident took place in every national written Osmanlı Bankasıand mass media. Because of the losses in their equity capital and the decrease of their prestige, the bank incorporated with Garanti Bank and resigned from the sector. The lawsuit that was brought against him in consequence of this, was concluded in previous years and he was not found guilty because of the lack of evidence on the server machines. The lawsuit filed against him because of the violation of bank laws still continues.

Afterwards, concentrating on his professional business life, Tamer Şahin took advantage of his hacking abilities by cooperating with legal authorities like military and police headquarters , and with private sector. He revealed the vulnerabilities of countless computer systems and he built up defense strategies.

In 2002, he accessed the Microsoft Network Operation Center' s computer systems, and he published the secret documents which included informations about Hotmail and other projects on Internet. The documents that he revealed contained the "Microsoft Secrets" projectMicrosoft which also included the e-mail correspondances of Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer and that constituted a chief resource for the security industry in manifesting the weakness of Microsoft Windows architecture when compared with Unix. Hacking of Microsoft took place widely in the global resources like Wired, Slashdot, The Register and ZDnet.

He has numerous articles and nearly 50 copyrighted security notifications that he revealed and contributed to the security industry by exploring the products which includes world-wide producers like Microsoft, Novell, HP, AOL. His articles are pointed out as resources in various books and in written media.

Şahin was reported as news by media institutions that includes almost every national written/mass media. A documentary on hackers and Tamer Şahin's life, in which he played the leading role is shoot by Coşkun Aral's crew. Tamer Şahin was handled as a project in İTÜ (İstanbul Technical University), his acts and their social reflections were analyzed as a course topic and supported with a presentation and documents.

Pana FilmTamer Şahin was characterized in Turkish action series like "Kurtlar Vadisi" and "Deli Yürek" various times in the name of "Hacker Tamer".

He continues on developing projects on information security, e-commerce and e-training with the leading companies.
